Feeling a little tired and worn out? Setting up and starting your own business can be exhausting. Most new business start ups, require long hours, late nights and can leave you sleep deprived. Of course, when you are that busy it is not only just your sleep that gets impacted but your diet, general wellbeing, relationships and having any kind of work life balance.

Of course, it is all part and parcel of a new business venture and in the very short term, it could be argued it is expected. However, as time goes on, it is important to make sure you’re looking after yourself. If your health suffers, so does that of your business and all your hard work gets undone.

Here are some pointers on how you can find a balance of looking after yourself whilst still working hard to get the business off the ground.

Exercise

You need to be open minded with this and get creative to allow you the ability to look after your physical health whilst still maintaining the ability to focus on your business. The good news is that there are ways of making this possible. You could consider walking or cycling to and from your place of work. You could use part of your lunch break for exercise, this could be going for a walk or taking yourself to one side and doing a little workout. Online stores (like Performa Custom) sell items that could support this type of workout.

If structured workouts aren’t your preference there are ways to keep your body moving whilst working at the same time. If you are at your desk you always do some lunges, squats or walk on the spot to get your heart rate increasing. You may feel a little silly but remember your health is a need and needs must!

Keep Hydrated And Consider What You Eat

Keeping on the theme of physical health, it is important that you are mindful of your water intake and what food you’re eating. It is easy to get caught up living on convenience foods and drinks, which lets be honest, aren’t usually the best for you.

To bring yourself back to having a balanced diet, you could start getting in the habit of making a packed lunch and taking your own food into the office. This gives you the luxury of knowing what you are consuming and ensuring that this is balanced. Along with having a water bottle to hand to make sure your quantities are kept up.

Set Realistic Goals

You’ve already got so much to do. Don’t add to your load by setting goals that aren’t achievable. When starting up, it is helpful to set a list of what needs to be achieved and then to review this and plan out how and when each of the steps will be complete. It is vital that these goals are realistic, if you set targets that are unrealistic it will cause stress and stain. By being realistic it will keep your well being in check.
