While you’re probably spending most of your time thinking about how to level up your business, those team members that keep you afloat should also get some attention. They spend their entire day in your office, after all, and the last thing you want is to see one of them making a trip to the doctor’s office due to something that happened while working.
Not just because you want them to be healthy and happy, of course, but also because your business will be the one to suffer as well, in the end.
Here is a handful of ways to fix up your office space and make it hazard-free as quickly as possible so that you can get back to work and focus on other things.
Prevent slips and falls
One of the most common accidents in the office is the seemingly innocent slip or fall. The older we get, the worse it is when we fall as our bones simply can’t handle the impact as well as it used to do. Make sure that the floor is clear from cables, boxes, and clutter, in general, so that your employees can roam around freely.
You may want to consider getting a carpet for your office as well as this significantly reduces the risk of having one of these accidents.
Remember that the office building, in general, may present a potential risk during winter; those icicles could drop any moment, for example, or a strong wind may turn a weaker roof into a hazard. Get in touch with a roof repair company as soon as you think it’s due and you’ll avoid any of these accidents.
Contain the virus risk
Sure, your computers may get a virus as well but this article focuses on the viruses that may attack your employees. While this hardly qualifies as a reason to file a case against your company, a team of coughing and feverish employees are definitely not going to do your business any good.
Even worse, you may risk that one employee shows up to work and gets the rest of you sick as well. Rather than risking this, you might as well make it a bit easier to stay healthy at work by providing your team with a small bottle of antibacterial wipes so that they can wipe off their keyboards at the end of the day.
Remember to be flexible if someone calls in sick or if they look sick at work as well, by the way, and they will definitely like you a bit better as well.
Clear away the clutter
That a few stray boxes can impose such a hazard in the workplace come as a surprise to many – until they run over one and fall on their face. Not only is a cluttered office a huge distraction when they’re trying to concentrate on their work, but it’s also one of the main causes for slips and falls around the office.
People are in a hurry when they’re working – sometimes, even a bit stressed, and need a clear pathway to stay safe. Prioritize tidiness and order in the workplace, and you’ll avoid seeing an employee experiencing an injury.
