When businesses come to the end of the day, they don’t just suddenly stop working. Every business owner is conscious of the fact that despite much of their work being on computers and moving through the online servers, they are still a real world business. You work in a property, you have various highly expensive computers, you have great office equipment such as chairs, desks, printers, copiers and more. All of this is potential gold for a thief or perhaps even worse. There have been known instances when rival companies will try to infiltrate their most prominent competitors to try and see what they are doing. Stealing ideas, poaching employees and more can occur when you don’t run a tight ship. So here is a procedure you should have in place, when shutting the business off for the night.
Check The Office
When you have a business that is run in a commercial office, you can’t see everything from your standing point. Therefore you should make sure you walk by every desk and computer to check that everyone has left the office properly. Check the machines as well for any suspicious activity, make sure every employee has logged out of their accounts and kept the system safe. It might sound silly, but check under the tables as well. Make sure no one is trying to stay behind and get up to no good. Once you have checked the desks and the machines, you should check with any in-house security to let them know it’s clear.
Turn On The Security
You might be running a multimillion business, thus you want to have the best kind of security options available. Fix a professional security camera to the outside and inside of your premises is a great deterrent to any would-be criminals attempting to break into your place of work. You can have the basic rectangular design which is great for depth or the eyeball camera which has a 360 degree field of view. It’s weatherproof as well so any wind, rain, hail or snow will not affect the quality of the images. It’s also infrared so it can detect heat signatures as well. These kinds of CCTV cameras are used by every large business in the world to keep their premises safe for employees and guests. It will instill confidence in your workers and clients to know they are being kept safe by cameras dotted around the building and office.
Don’t Forget To Lock The Doors
You might not know it but there could be someone trying to take information out of the office. That’s why it’s a good idea to lock every important room in your business before you head home. For example, a sensitive research and development room might be harboring your latest invention, so you should make sure no one can steal it or the information gathered by it. You should also lock your main office doors as well so not even the security guards can get in.
Shutting down the office for the night isn’t so straight forward. You need to check every workstation to make sure you are preventing anyone from staying behind and doing something suspicious. And fix cameras to the exterior to deter any criminals from breaking in.
