Having a motivational space for your employees is important for various reasons. Having a positive environment will enable you to employ a higher calibre of employees (top-level workers want a great place to work), and it will also make your space more motivational – there is nothing worse than working in a space which you don’t look forward to working in.

There are simple changes you can make to the office to make it more motivational, such as adding plants or hanging pictures on the wall. Then there are more expensive changes, such as installing breakroom furniture or improving your lighting – lighting is so important in an office.

Keep on reading for our guide on ways to make your office a motivational space for your employees.

Plants and Pictures

An easy change which you can apply to quickly improve your office is to add plants and pictures on the wall. Plants are great for filling empty spaces while adding colour and improving the air quality. Pictures can add a touch of personality to the space as well as make the room feel more interesting – if you don’t have pictures, you could go down the route of artwork. Artwork can be more colourful than pictures.

Improve your lighting

You’ll be amazed at the impact lighting can have on a working environment. Lighting plays a huge role in the overall feel of a room – it can instantly change the dynamics of a room. Depending on your current lighting situation, you may want to go down the route of installing softer lights that look more appealing, or you could invest in smart lighting. Smart lighting is becoming more commonly used as you can control it by your voice or an app on your phone. Smart lights also have various lighting options, giving you a larger range of colours that can light your office.

Decorate your walls

We mentioned using artwork or pictures above, however, you could redecorate the whole wall instead. A lot of businesses tend to go down the route of plain white or light grey walls, but this has no personality. Instead, you could paint the walls your brand colours or add a splash of colour to make the room feel more positive and exciting. Whilst you could paint all the walls the same colour, another option could be having a feature wall which you paint – feature walls are useful for drawing people’s attention and they are cheaper as you only need to paint one wall instead of all of them. If you don’t like the idea of painting or want to try something different, you could opt for using wallpaper instead, as this way you can get unique patterns.

What changes are you planning on making to your office and why? What changes do you think will make the biggest difference to a working environment?
